Tūhono Kapa Haka, Tūhono Tāngata, Tūhono ngā kura o te motu.

Tūhono Kapa Haka Festival is a whānau-led, Māori-driven celebration of kapa haka excellence and participation. Guided by the kaupapa “Nā te Māori, mā te katoa - By Māori, for all,” Tūhono creates a space where mainstream schools can experience and participate in Te Ao Haka, the world of kapa haka, with pride, energy, and mana.

Since 2013, mainstream schools from across Waitaha Canterbury and nationwide have come together to perform, connect, and celebrate through waiata, haka, and action songs. Tūhono festivals include both competitive and non-competitive sections, ensuring that participation remains accessible to all while still celebrating high-quality performances. Groups take the stage in a vibrant, fast-paced festival environment that produces high-energy performances and unforgettable memories for students, whānau, and communities alike.

Join us in 2026 as Tūhono travels to Christchurch, Auckland, and beyond. Whether you are part of a kapa haka group, a proud whānau supporter, or love Māori performing arts, Tūhono is for you.
